Sometimes dental emergencies happen. Unfortunately, these times can be stressful, overwhelming, and even scary. However, you can help improve the situation and make it a tad bit easier by stocking your first-aid kit now with dental supplies. To help you do so, our dentists, Dr. John Poulos and Dr. Jaime Poulos, have some tips for you.

First, stock your first-aid kit with floss. Floss can help you remove stubborn obstacles from your smile. This is very convenient because stuck food particles or foreign objects can cause severe pain and discomfort. With the help of the floss, you can remove it out of place.

Second, stock your kit with Save-a-Tooth® System. This handy product can help you if you knock a tooth out of place. This is because it’s important to keep the tooth alive. If you cannot put the tooth back into place, you will need to put the tooth into the Save-a-Tooth System to keep it alive until you visit your dentist.

Third, stock your kit with sterile gauze and pain medication. Sterile gauze can help you stop any bleeding you might have during an oral injury. The medication can help you dull any discomfort you feel so you can stay calmer and relaxed during the emergency.

If you have any questions or if you would like to know more about what you can put in your first-aid kit in Northport, New York, please contact Northport Prosthodontics at 631-262-0644 when you can. Our dental team is here to assist you, and we look forward to hearing from you!

If you have missing teeth, it can be quite troublesome, especially because the teeth help you talk, eat, and even smile. Without your teeth, all of these things are difficult. This is why it’s best to replace your missing teeth as soon as you can. Doing so can also help you prevent additional complications, like misaligned and chipped teeth. Fortunately, there are many dental restorations that can replace your missing teeth and give you the smile you need. One beneficial and effective restoration is a dental bridge.

A dental bridge in Northport, New York, can help you in many different ways. In fact, it can help you chew and speak again, restore your smile, preserve the shape of your face, prevent remaining natural teeth from drifting out of place, add force to your bite, enhance your smile, and boost your oral health.

This tooth-replacement option is a beautiful and reliable substitute tooth that is fused to a dental crown on each side. When it is placed in your mouth, it will anchor to the surrounding teeth and fill the space in your mouth without the need for surgery.

The process of placing a dental bridge typically requires two appointments. First, our dentist will numb your mouth so you don’t have any discomfort during your visit. Then, they will shave a portion of the neighboring teeth so the bridge can anchor to them. When your teeth are ready, your dentist will make an impression of the area and will send that impression to a professional dental lab. There, lab technicians will create your new bridge. While you wait, your dentist will cover the neighboring teeth with temporary dental crowns so you can use them until your next appointment.

When your new dental bridge is made and ready, you will come back into Northport Prosthodontics to get it placed. During this appointment, our dental team will cement the bridge over the teeth and will make sure it gives you the smile you’re looking for.

Call Northport Prosthodontics today at 631-262-0644 if you have any questions or if you would like to see if a dental bridge is right for you. Our dental team will be excited to talk with you and help you schedule an appointment so you can meet with Dr. John Poulos or Dr. Jaime Poulos about the possibility of replacing your missing teeth.
